الملخص

The purpose of this study was to isolated the importantcausative pathogen of mastitis (S. aureus) from (Friesian, cross breedand local cows) in dairy farms in Khartoum State. The total number ofmilk samples collected were 60 samples of which 14 were subclinicaland 46 from caws with clinical mastitis. The bacteriological analysis curied out to all samples includetotal bacterial counts, isolation of S.aureus and antimicrobialsensitivity tests using 14 different antibiotics. The results showeddifferences in total bacterial counts of the sample from the threegroups of cows and friesian cows has highest bacterial counts. Theantibiotics sensitivity indicated that S .aureus was highly resistant toGentamycin (12.5%), Erythmycin (8.5%), Chloramphenicol(6.33%)and Tetracycline (12.5%), however sensitivity toCortimoxazole (85.3%), Ampicillin (83.3%) and Kanamycin (83.3%).The study also included the chemical analysis of mastitic milk todetermine the percentages of total solid, total protein, fat, lactose, ash and their acidity. The results estimated values of chemicalcomposition of subclinical and clinical mastitic milk samples asfollows: The mean and standard division, minimum and maximumvalues of total solids of subclinical mastitic milk were 11.86±1.7%, 8.6% and 15%, respectively. While in clinical mastitic milksamples the values were 11.1± 1.6%, 8.5% and 14%, respectively. The fat contet of subclinical mastitic milk were 3.1± 0.7%, 0.2%and 4.1%, respectively, while in clinical mastitic milk samples5values were 3.6± 0.5%, 2.4% and 4.9%, respectively. The mean andstandard division, minimum and maximum values of proteincontents of subclinical mastitic milk were 4.3± 2.8%, 1.75% and5.1%, respectively. Hawever clinical mastitic milk samples revealed3.6± 0.5%, 2.4% and 4.9%, respectively. The values for lactosepercentage of subclinical mastitic milk samples were 2.3± 0.5, 1.2%and 3.8%, respectively. Hawever the values of lactose percentage ofclinical mastitic milk samples were 2.1± 0.7%, 0.2% and 3.4%,respectively. The ash contents of subclinical mastitic milk sampleswere 0.6 ±0.15%, 0.4% and 0.9%, respectively. Hawever the ashcontents of clinical mastitic milk samples were 0.68± 0.12%, 05%and 0.9%, respectively. The results also showed that S. aureus as causative agent ofmatistis has a significant effect on lactose (P ≤ 0.01) and ash (P ≤0.05). Similary it indicated the disease (subclinical and clinical) hadan effect on total solids and lactose contents of different milksamples. Aslo the study included the correlation coeffient matrix ofchemical composition and microbial content of mastitic milk samples. It was indicated that S. aureus counts showed non significant (P ≤0.05) negative correlation (r = -0.092, -0.092, -0.005 and 0.067 ) whencopared with total bacerial counts, total solids, protein and lactosecontents, respectively. However it showed non significant posatviecorrelation (r= 0.224, 0.242 and 0.086) when compared with acidity, ash and fat cotents, respectively. Showed significant negative6corelation (r= -0.037) when compared to lactose contents. Nonsignificant differences were reported between other measurments. The present study concluded that mastitis caused by S. aureusled to decrese nutrative value of milk because it affected itsconstituents. In addition to the health hazards. Thus it is recommendedmastitis specially those caused by S. aureus inorder to minimize thehazzards that might arise
