The Effect of Age, Gender and Social Status on the Conversational Interaction in Oral Expression Classes: Case study Third year students of English

الملخص

Our study aims to investigate the effect of gender, age and social status on the conversational interaction in oral expression class. Nowadays interaction has become more contextualized within the classroom atmosphere. Teachers of oral expression are responsible for reducing the problems associated with age, gender and cultural differences while students are interacting in classroom. In this study we have used a quantitative method based on a questionnaire administered to Third Year English students and teachers of oral expression in order to test the hypotheses. The results obtained have shown that the factors of age, gender and social status are really determinant for students’ interaction in class. Last but not least, we would like to point out that if the above mentioned factors are well managed in class, students’ oral interaction will be developed and improved. Notre travail vise à étudier l’effet d’âge, genre et statut social sur l’interaction conversationnelle dans la classe de l’expression orale. Aujourd’hui interaction est devenue de plus en plus contextualisée dans l’atmosphère de la classe. Les enseignants de l’oral sont responsables de diminuer les problèmes associés par l’âge, genre et les différences culturelles tandis que les étudiants interagissent dans la classe. Dans cette étude on a utilisé la méthode quantitative basée sur un questionnaire administré aux étudiants de 3 ème année Anglais et les enseignants de l’oral afin de tester les hypothèses. Les résultats obtenus ont montré que les facteurs de l’âge, genre 39 et statut social sont vraiment déterminants pour l’interaction des étudiants dans la classe. Finalement nous voudrions de signaler que si les facteurs mentionnés au-dessus sont bien managés dans la classe, les étudiants de l’oral seront bien développés et améliorés.يهدف هذا البحث لدراسة تأثير عامل العمر و الجنس و الحالة الاجتماعية على فعالية التفاعل في الحوار في حصة التعبير الشفهي. أصبح التفاعل في وقتنا هذا أكثر استعمالا داخل القسم، حيث يعتبر الأساتذة مسئولين عن تقليل تأثير هاته العوامل على تفاعل الطلبة. تعتمد هذه الدراسة على استبيان موجه لطلبة السنة الثالثة تخصص إنجليزية وأساتذة التخصص من أجل التحقق من صحة الفرضيات المطروحة. لقد أظهر تحليل الاستبيان أن العوامل المذكورة سابقا تأثر بصفة ملحوظة على تفاعل الطلبة في القسم. و في الأخير نود أن نشير إلى أن إدارة العوامل المذكورة أعاله بشكل جيد في الصف سيؤثر إيجابا على تفاعل الطلبة مما يؤدي إلى تحسينه و تطويره.
