The vitreous haemorrhage occurs suddenly without pain,but can cause severe impairment of vision.Blindness is one of the most dreaded complications ofdiabetes, but also one of the most preventable. As treatment isnow available to prevent blindness in the majority of cases, it isessential to identify patients with retinopathy before their vision isaffected.Purposes: This study was done to find out the maincauses of vitreous haemorrhage among Sudanese patients.Methods: A descriptive study was done in Khartoum EyeTeaching Hospital and Nur El Aun Eye Hospital for a periodstarting on January 2001 to January 2002. Seventy-two eyes of 60patients with V. Hge were examined. Examination included fullophthalmic examination, B-scan Echography and otherinvestigations such as complete haemogram and ESR, CXR andRBS.Results: percentage of vitreous haemorrhage due to DMwas found to be 51.7%, due to trauma 33.3%, Eales’s disease andhypertension 5.0% for each. Myopia, PVD and polycythemia wasfound to be 1.7% for each.8Conclusion: it is found that the main cause of vitreoushaemorrhage among Sudanese patients was diabetes mellitus andthen comes ocular trauma, which affect children mainly
