Aromatic plants are significant natural resource rich in therapeutic substances that could serve as an alternative to chemical fungicides. The therapeutic properties of these plants depend on the presence of various bioactive agents, including volatile extracts. Essential oils (EOs) offer a promising alternative to chemical fungicides due to their antifungal properties, particularly against Verticillium dahliae. Our study revealed the efficacy of thyme essential oil (Thymus vulgaris)but showed a lack of synergy with the fungicide ECONAZYL (Econazole Nitrate 1%). This lack of synergy suggests that the combined use of these two treatments does not provide any additional benefit. These results encourage the exploration of EOs as standalone antifungal agents, while also highlighting the need for future research to optimize the combined use of EOs and fungicides.
