- Dystrophin is the product of the Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) gene. In this work, we focused on the study of the expression and distribution of Dps at the level of the accessory glands of the male productive system, prostate and seminal vesicule as a fonction of age.The result s obtained by the histo-morphometric study showed the evolution of histological structures of the accessory glands as a fonction of age, namely : the height of the epithelial cells, the thickness of the fibromuscular stroma and the diameter of the lumen of the tubules. In addition, the immunohistochemical study of the distribution of Dps in the prostate and seminal vesicle, depending on age, revealed the expression of this cytoskeletal protein by the prostatic epithelial cells and those of the seminal vesicle . Thos distribution undergoes variations throughout the postnatal development of these glands.These results suggest that this Dps protein probably has important physiological roles in reproductive activity in mammals.
