Raised Lebanon's history over the past years the attention of researchers and academics, and the outcome of this interest was a good number of theses and doctoral dissertations. In this context, a different side of Lebanon's history was selected for study, which is the role of the deputies of Mount Lebanon in the Lebanese Parliament. This was due to its preservation of natural divisions and special features that made it different from surrounding areas. Mount Lebanon Governorate is characterized by a social structure composed of several religious communities represented by Maronite Christians, who make up the majority, followed by Greek Orthodox and Roman Catholics, as well as Muslim representatives from the Druze, Sunnis, and Shiites. This region formed the heart of the emirate in the Ottoman era and was a key part of the creation of Greater Lebanon in 1920, and it later became one of the most important commercial centers during the era of independence. The choice of the period (1943–1958) was made because it is one of the most accurate and complex periods in the contemporary history of Lebanon. During this time, the first foundations of state independence were laid, and there was an escalation in the momentum of the national movement along with the development of political ideas and currents. The year 1943 marked the beginning of the era under study, while 1958 marked the end of the rule of Lebanese President Camille Chamoun after a popular uprising against his government. Here, the role of the deputies of Mount Lebanon Governorate in these events becomes clear—through the Lebanese Parliament—as the supreme legislative authority in the country. The research will examine their influence on the course of events, and their role in domestic and foreign policy, as well as economic, social, and cultural developments. It will highlight their various activities at all levels, especially since the successive governments acted as the executive authority accountable to the House of Representatives, in order to correct the path and adopt an approach that serves the country.
