- The research of (The relationship between Literature and Arts in the Abbasid period)is based on the examination of literary texts that is influencing and influenced by arts during the Abbasid era, showing the quality and depth of the influence and on the illustration of the essence of the cultural, historical or psychological backgrounds that are behind this influence. The idea of Arts’ unity was present in my mind in the early years of my studying at the university, but it remained muddled thoughts that blows to my mind every time a reason motivates it, and I see it a big and an inaccessible dream until I read a book by my lecturer “Dr. Ahmed Ziad Mohabbak” which contains ideas that is close to those which exhausted my thoughts ,the book is “Omar Abo Risha and Fine Arts”. From its introduction, the reader can find out its subject, which is the study of the relation ship between Omar Abo Risha’s poetry and fine arts. In the introduction, there is a request to study the phenomenon in Arabic poetry. This thing motivates me –in postgraduate's studies –to organize my thoughts and driving them out to presence and I have chosen it as a subject for my research; but my winds, at that time, do not blow as my vessels wish. I was not destined to write in the unity of Abbasid arts .When the time came to write my Master degree’s thesis, the title spontaneously jumped into my mind without any thinking. This topic became explicit in my mind when I found a talk about it in the old references as in Al Amdi’s equalizations, in Ibn Sinan Al Khafaji’s book –“The Secret of Eloquence”, in most of Al Tawhidi’s book and in many other book. The research aspires to provide an image about the arts in the Abbasid era when they interacts with each other, and it also aspires to ٖ٘9clarify the spiritual and psychological dimensions which made the artist creates an art that is taken from another art. The importance of the study exists in its attempt to capture the tiniest moments of the artistic creation in their best forms. There were a number of works before this research, which handled art’s production like “Poem and Image ...Poetry and Imagery across ages” by Dr. Abdul Ghaffar Makawi. In it, the researcher analyzes a number of literary works, which their creators derived them from other artistic works; but the research did not study the phenomenon in Arabic literature, even the analyzed poems came from foreign and translated origins, except some Arabic texts from various ages that can be counted on the fingers of the hand. One of that works is “The Imagery Relationships between Arabic Poetry and Islamic Arts” by Dr. Nabeel Rashad Naufal. Through it, the researcher shows the topic in a theoretical side; he rarely attends to analyze the literary evidence, so the research nearly came faraway from practical side. There is another research “Poetry among Fine Arts” by Dr. Naeem Al Yafi. Through it, he studies the status of poetry among arts, but it is only an observatory and historical research. According to this, the three studies, which have been provided, either handled the phenomenon in a theoretical method that is faraway from implementation or they applied it either on a foreign or on translated literary works; and they are only applied on specific arts such as architecture, carving or imagery while they ignored all types of ornamentation, music, singing and dancing. They also ignored the issue of the literature’s influence by literature. However, the other studies, which I read, are either to study an art in isolation of arts or to study the literature apart from other arts. ٖٙٓThe research comes up against several difficulties, the most important are:The lack of an Islamic, Arabic and artistic theory, that its origins outflow from arts of an Islamic Arabic heritage. A theory that may be able to make more absolute results from the research. As most of the studies, that considers arts, were of an imported foreign view, trying to impose their intellectual output on our ancient texts, while the existing research is looking forward to extract a united artistic view that is emerging from the depth of an Arabic spirit in the most glorious Arabic ages of success and development. This issue made the research to put a theoretical framing that is derived from ancient Arabic texts at the beginning of each chapter. In spite of its shortness, it provides an explicit image of every art that is studied alone, and after that the comparison comes in the middle of the chapter.Another research difficulties are also ,It handled Abbasid arts that most of them had been over and wiped out, so we cant learn about them. Perhaps, the best way to exceed this difficulty is to follow the characteristics of these arts in heritage books like countries, history and encyclopedic compositions books, which gave us an accurate description of those arts. Other difficulties are ,General / personal difficulties that my dear country and province are suffering from. As the war and it's economic, social and psychological results can have negative effects on the researcher's spirit and the purity of his mind, and takes a lot of his time, effort and concentration. As Ibn Abi Salma said: it crushes us as the grindstone does with the wheat grains. So, because of it, I was not able to have some books either paperbacked or electronic that is compatible to the printed ones, so I have just brought some quotes about it from the books that I have found. ٖٙٔIn its chapters, the research depends on the historical approach when tracing the movement and evolution of the Abbasid arts. it also depends on comparison when studying literary texts and other artistic works concerned with this texts, by inspecting the works and standing on the accuracies of pronunciation and structure and the style of the artistic structure in literary works, and standing –as much as possible –on the parts of non-literary artistic works like sizes, writings, colours and sounds ..... It is a historical research in its theory and a comparative one in its implementation. During the preparation of the research, I have depended on a number of sources and references that I will put at the end of it. The observer may see that most of it from ancient references, from which I take the original theory. As well I pick and choose the literary works on which the study is based .The sources –on its lack if it is measured to the number of references –add a modern touch without throwing it down in the depth of scattering between the old and the new. Whereas they illuminate visions –in the art's passages –lead the research to its extensive fields. The nature of the research needs to be divided into an opening for the research, an introduction, three chapters and a conclusion. The opening: it includes the motives that is behind the selection of subject and the desired importance from it. It also has a talk about the most important previous studies that handled the well planned phenomenon, presenting the most notable difficulties that come up against the researcher and the ways to overcome it. It also includes a presentation of the chapters, their division and the most important studied points in it.The introduction: it is divided into two parts, ٖٕٙThe first handles the issue of feeling the Arabic critical heritage for the unity of the artistic creativity, because it has an induction and study of the most important critical texts, which touched and talked about the unity of arts. The first part of the introduction also talks about the most important contributions among arts like the origin of beauty, rhythm, the stages of the artistic creativity and the artistic structure progression ,and their agreement that the beauty is in the structure not in the items. The second talks about arts through classifying them and it is also divided into two parts. The first for the western division and the second for the Islamic Arabic one. At the end of the introduction, there is a summary of the most important outcomes. The first chapter, it talks about the relationship between the Abbasid literature and architecture. Through it, there is a discussion of the literary works that describe mosques, monuments of the ancient nations, the military constructions such as castles and forts, and civilian constructions such as palaces, houses with their domes and ponds, waterwheels and many others, which enter in the field of aquatic architecture. The second chapter, it handles the relationship between the Abbasid literature with imagery and ornamentation. It is in three parts,The first part deals with the study of literary works that describes ornamentation and images inside the constructions such as the wall that have artistic touches. It also deals with the texts that portray the Arabic robe, the vase, war banners and other tools outside the construction. ٖٖٙIn the second part, there is a study of the Arabic calligraphy that shapes the original, Islamic and Arabic customs among arts. As it was not affected by other incoming cultures. In the study there is an analyzes of some texts that describe this art.In the third part, there is a comparative analytical study between Al Hariri's keys and Yahia Alwastani's ornamentations for the manifestation of the art's unity between them. The third chapter: it has been specified for the relationship between the Abbasid literature and temporality arts and it is divided into two parts,The first handles the literary works that describes music and what is attached to it such as singing and dancing. There is a description of the tune and the instruments with their physical construction and its psychological effect, a description of the singing that is accompanied with or without music, a description of the acoustics and the personal qualities of the singer, and a description of the dance with its movements and the personal qualities of the dancer. This chapter also provides an analysis of the terza rima that ranges between the instrument's tune and the word's music, through some of its Abbasid types to access to the origin of its musical composition. The second handles the relationship between literature and literature, where it deals with literary texts that its creators inspired them from other literary texts, no matter it was poetry or prose. It also deals with guesting among literary arts, where two types of literature share a single artistic frame to provide a united artistic vision. ٖٙٗHowever, in the study, I did not deal with the literary works that was textured on the pattern of other works, which make them fall into disagreement, for this, there is an independent talk. Where as I will show the literary works that describe or host other literary works. The conclusion: it has a summary of the most important results that the research has attained. It also includes suggestions that belongs to the studied issue itself. Finally, I hope success and rightness from God, because God is the helpful to accomplish our needs
