ترجمة الملخص
The contemporary world is witnessing rapid social and cultural changes in lifestyles and personal relationships. One of these important changes is the rise in divorce rates and the increase in the number of individuals living single or divorced. Divorce is an emotional life experience that reflects a change in the social and emotional status of divorced individuals. The experience of divorce raises many psychological and social questions and challenges, including feelings of remorse and their impact on the thinking and behavior of divorced people. Regret avoidance is related to an individual's ability to control potential feelings of regret after making a certain decision, and to act consciously and strategically to avoid getting into situations that could cause regret in the future. This study takes a theoretical approach to understanding the relationship between regret avoidance and status quo bias in divorced people. Status quo bias is an individual's tendency to maintain the current state of affairs and avoid the risk of changing it, even if there are better alternatives. Status quo bias is associated with a variety of psychological and social factors, and it is important to understand how this bias may be influenced by regret avoidance in divorced individuals. The objectives of the study were as follows:1.Avoid regret among divorced people.2.The significance of statistical differences in (avoiding regret) among divorced people according to the variables of gender, residence, economic status, and educational attainment.3.Bias for the status quo among divorced people.4.The significance of statistical differences in (bias for the status quo) among divorced people according to the variables of gender, residence, economic status, and educational attainment.5.The correlation between avoiding regret and bias toward the status quo among divorced people.6.The relative contribution of status quo bias to avoiding regret among divorced people.Study methodology:The researcher used the descriptive, correlational method. Study population:The current research population is determined by divorcees in Diwaniyah Governorate for the year (2023), who number (1702) males and (1702) females. The study sample:The researcher resorted to selecting the research sample from divorced people in Diwaniyah Governorate by adopting the random method, which is used in the case of difficulty in researching heterogeneous societies, whose vocabulary varies according to certain characteristics. (400) divorced people were selected, representing (11.7%) from the research population.Study tools:In order to measure the two research variables of (avoidance of regret and bias toward the status quo) among divorced people, the researcher built a measure of avoidance of regret according to the theory of regret (1982), and built a measure of bias toward the status quo according to the theory of bias toward the status quo (1988).After conducting statistical analysis of the study data, the results appeared as follows:1.Divorced people have a high regret avoidance.2.There are statistically significant differences in avoiding regret according to the variable of gender and in favor of males, and there is no statistically significant difference according to the variable of residence, and there is a statistically significant difference in avoiding regret according to the variable of economic status, and there is a statistically significant difference in avoiding regret according to the variable of educational attainment.3.Divorced people have a bias toward the status quo.4.There is a statistically significant difference in bias for the status quo according to the gender variable and in favor of males, and there is a difference in bias for the status quo according to the housing variable and in favor of the city center, and there is a difference in bias for the status quo according to the economic status variable, and there is a difference in bias for the status quo according to the educational attainment variable.5. There is a statistically significant correlation between avoiding regret and bias towards the status quo.6.Bias for the current situation contributes to avoiding regret. Based on the results of the current research, the researcher presented a set of recommendations and proposals
