- The word "intention" is considered a deceptive word in the linguistic sense. So is the conception of "Intentionality". Intentionality, as a concept, isindividuated by a good deal of obscurity and complexity despite its powerful presence and its effective role in many human cognitive fields, be them philosophical, legal, social, linguistic, literary, and critical. It seems that the above-mentioned obscurity which dominates this conception is the result of its various senses within the different cognitive fields apart from its various uses in a single cognitive field. Add to this the subsequent studies which have begun to be closer to this conception and its issues in a way or another especially the psychological studies, sociological researches, new ethnolinguistic and rhetoric researches, All of them contributed to the development of this concept, and they enriched it with new various dimensions, the thing which made it open to extensive worlds. This is especially in the rhetorical and linguistic field. Intentionality is no longer limited to the productive self only; rather, it includes the receiver and the different elements the text contains. Moreover, the follower of the present opinions and visions about "Intentionality" can clearly notice that the majority of the available perspectives concerning this concept revolve around two main points. The first of them refuses to admit that the intentionality dimensions are present and that it is necessary to attempt to clarify them while the second believes that intentionality controls every human act in a way that identifies its shape and gives its meaning. By this, the research related to the intentionality and the pursuance of its branchesbecome a considerable part in analysing and studying any text. Anyway, we are to say that there is hardly a field about a linguistic text, be it an artistic or non-artistic, which is void of the discussion of its intentionality or intentionalities,no matter whether this discussion underestimates and contrasts intentionality or overestimates it. In this context, it is strange that the volumes and the studies specified for studying and analysing this conception and its issues are rare, be them theoretical or practical. We can hardly find a single author collecting all these random ideas, opinions and perspectives related to this concept, the thing which would have simplified it and showed the hidden part of it. In fact, any researcher about the dimensions of this concept and its issues in the heritage boos, rhetoric researches, and the old criticism can obtain a considerable number of deep visions and rich perspectives which are spread here and there. It is never an exaggeration to say that the majority of what has been introduced in this context within the volumes of the modern rhetorical and critical field, especially the Arabic ones, could not reach the least and the simplest attempts. It is because most of them exist within the pages of some writings in addition to small contributions in the magazines and periodicals. In this research, we attempt to clarify this significant concept within the heritage folders and books due to our trust in the fact that these folders and books have never been void of serious visions and deep analyses to the approaches of this field and of the collection of its spread lines. We never mean to be prejudiced to the heritage in order to claim that what the heritage presented is superior to what is presented by the modern studies or that we can do without them. If we did this, we would depend on it alone. On the contrary, we are going to make use of the modern field researches in order to dig deeply in the heritage volumes, taking into consideration the dissimilar terms used in both of them. We are also aware of the natural difference between their ways in simplifying this research's issues and how it should be properly studied according to the time span that separates them. Hopefully, we will introduce a clear vision to the concept of Intentionality in the old and the modern senses at the end of this research. We also hope to collect all its ideas in both senses without being prejudiced to the old or being fully dependent on the modern. We have decided this research to be done in five chapters preceded by a preface in which we mention Intentionality as a term and a concept. First, we start with the linguistic sense of the term Intentionality. Then, we bring the terms that relate and interrelate to this term. For example, we have "intention", "meaning", "goal", "purpose", "orientation", and "aiming at". After that, we move to observe the term Intentionality and its dimensions. At the beginning, we allude to the term Intentionality in the philosophical field. Then, we observe the image of this Summary454concept in the rhetorical and critical field. We proceed with the conceptions around it. These conceptions have become prominent in the modern critical sense as substitutions to the concept Intentionality or as complementarities to get the concept realized perfectly. The last stage in this preface is a historical authenticating and a brief presentation to the most prominent theories which develop this concept within several cognitive fields by which it has been enrich and which the concept enriched, in its turn. After that, we move to the first chapter entitled "The Intentionality of the Creator in the Modern Field". In this chapter, we try to cover the total perspectives presented in this context. These perspectives varied between the confirmation of this Intentionality and calling it in the field as well as the analysis on the one hand and denying it and the determination to cancel it on the other hand. We move then to observe how each perspective has a tendency to the other. All of this is shown in a single pivot entitled "The Intentionality of the Creator –Presence and Absence". This pivot will organize what we have said within three subsequent subsidiary pivots which are "The Presence of the Creator's Intentionality", "The Absence of the Creator's Intentionality", and "The Intentionality of the Creator between Presence and Absence". We follow this by a brief comment on "The Intentionality of the Creator between the Spoken and the Written". In this comment, we try to pursue the advantage of the spoken address as well as the written text to convey the creator's intentionality. Furthermore, we observe the superiority of each one of them on the other in this context according to several factors. We start, then, in the second chapter with "The Intentionality of the Creator in the Semantic Field". The beginning of this chapter is a general presentation discussing that fact that the purpose of the semantic field is never related to the parsing side or to the pursuance of the possibilities of semantic correctness in the performance stage as much as it is related to the pursuance of the communicative progress' track. The purpose of the semantic field is also more related to the functional side connected with it and with its success in delivering the speaker's intentions correctly and accurately. The presentation is enriched with a detailed presenting to some samples and images confirming the presence of the creator's intentionality in the semantic field. They also assure the emergence of its rules according to that applicable context and to the pursuance to the performance possibilities in the communicative side. So, our presentation will be within three pivots which are: building grammar, semantic explanation, and poetic license. The third chapter is specified to search for "The Creator's Intentionality in the Rhetorical and Critical Field". At the beginning, we try to show images and samples referring to the presence of Intentionality in the researches of the rhetorical and critical field. After that, we move to observe other dimensions related to our topic. These dimensions are as follows: "The Intentionality of the Creator between the Spoken and the Written", "The Intentionality of the Creator and the Poetic Stealing", and "The Intentionality of the Creator between Printing and Industry".We move then to discuss the dimensions from which the concept of Intentionality left the single connection with the creator of the text in order to be related to the receiver once and to the text in other times. So, we specify the fourth chapter for "The Intentionality of the Receiver". We start with the Intentionality of the receiver in the modern field's volumes. Here, we observe the earlier images of this concept's presence in those volumes. This is followed by a discussion of the typicalities of that presence and its degrees. Then, we move to its principles and regulations. After that, we turn to a similar search in the rhetorical and critical field's research's. there will be images and samples for the presence of the receiver Intentionality followed by discussing the principles of that presence and its degrees. In this fifth chapter, we move to the Intentionality of the text. So, we try to observe what is related to it in the volumes of the two studies, the modern and the old rhetorical. This will be done in two very similar pivots. In both of them, we show images for the presence of this concept followed by a simplification to the principles and the bases which it depends upon. This research is to be ended by a conclusion in which we show the most important results of the research. We explain in this conclusion the core idea of our research through a long and tiresome journey in searching, digging deep, and studying within this huge research.
