Comparison Between Panel Models to Study the Relationship Between Agricultural Crops Export and the Gross Domestic Product, Sudan (2004-2019)

Panel data refers to the pooling of observations on cross-section of households, countries, firms, etc. by surveying a number of households or individual and following them over time. The main objective of this study is to study the relationship between agricultural crops exports and the gross domestic product (GDP) in Sudan, using three models of panel data, and they are the pooled regression model, the fixed effects model and the random effects model. The data was collected from the annual reports of central bank of Sudan; the data consist of five different types of agricultural crops, which were cotton, sesame, corn, peanut and Arabic gum for the period 2004-2019. This study leading us to many results, the important one is that the fixed effects model (FEM) is better than the pooled regression model (PRM) and the random effects model (REM) due to the P-value (0.0330) of hausman test is less than the level of significance (0.05); it showed that agricultural crops exports have a positive and significant impact on the economic growth because the P-value of the agricultural crops exports in the estimated model was equal (0.0001) which is less than the level of significance (0.05). Based on my results, I recommended that increasing the productivity and quality of cash crops by introducing modern techniques, which will support our national economy and conducting more studies in various sectors by applying panel models because of their role in accuracy of estimates.
