الملخص

This study tackled profoundly some key problems and difficulties that face the experienced and professional translators and interpreters in addition to amateurs of translation of the miscellaneous population( translation hobby groups). A cluster of significances had been submitted for verifying importance of exploring modern scientific translation problems and challenges as in agricultural engineering etc. This research aimed at exploring, examining and analyzing some problems that confront some different varieties of persons who are used to practise translation specifically rendering scientific, technical terms and texts from English into Arabic..The primary objectives were pivoted on investigating some terminological problems which are attributed to multiplicity and diversity of scientific terms, constraints of applying unification and standardization, deficiency of Arabic scientific terms, impediments of the huge influx of daily/annually neologisms, problems of polysemy, homonymy, synonymy etc.The study determined scientific textual difficulties that related to text features such as coherence, precision, referential meaning, reason etc..It checked up applications of English and Arabic styles and stylistic techniques for overlapping message and style for obtaining sound translation. It accounted for the significant roles of educational and cultural level differences among the term users in applying standard, colloquial or common terms in their professional jargon. It signified the impacts of knowledge explosion and globalization effects on translation as means of knowledge transfer. It considered some negative impacts of funding shortage, low wages of translators, lack of appropriate translation qualification, competence and advanced training. It recognized some problems which face interpreters in particular and to identify some problems that are associated with lack or insufficiency of deep knowledge about some technical subjects like:drawing,maps,figures etc.as simple modern means of demonstration, brevity and summary. The study relied on data which obtained from forty four samples of the respondents of population(A ) of translators and interpreters in addition to data that derived from fifty four respondents of the population (B) of translation amateurs. This study had applied specific multiple approaches and sources which included qualitative and quantitative methodologies. The applied tools of data collection constituted: documents, observations, interviews and questionnaires. The applied methods were such as: historical, survey, case study etc.Many findings were tackled in this thesis but the key findings are like: huge influx of scientific terms, neologisms, multiplicity and diversity of scientific concepts, problems of Arabic scientific term deficiency, lack or insufficiency of comprehensive bilingual dictionaries, encyclopedias, current translation references and instability of meanings of some scientific terms. transliteration, arabicization, coinage, adaptation are applied as a consequence of lack of the appropriate equivalent term in the target language. This study recommended: application of terminology science and translation in all higher education institutions, adoption of the modern scientific and technical systems in education development, necessity of applying specific specialization in one of translation fields for acquiring outstanding professionalism and advocacy of the advanced training to promote capacity building of translators.
