- As part of the promotion of medicinal plants of the Algerian flora, we became interested in the study of endemic species Matricaria pubescens. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the antioxidant activity of total alkaloids extracted fromMatricaria pubescensby six different tests. Solventextraction has obtained five extracts , only three were used for the accomplishment of this study, theethanol extract is obtained by soxhlet with a yield of 4.03% estimated to be the best, followed byextract acidified methanol ( 4.02% ), and finally comes the chloroform basified (2.69 %). The resultsof the antioxidant activity of extracts ofMatricaria pubescensindicate that the acidified methanolextract has the highest reducing power with a value of 8.49. Evaluation of antioxidant activity by theDPPH test , revealed a better antioxidant of about 20.26 % power for chloroform extract basified ,however the best anti radical ABTS activity was of the order 22.44 % for the extract of acidifiedmethanol ; testing of β -carotene bleaching reveals that the acidified methanol extract showed the highest inhibitory activity with a value of 56.38 % , Extracts ofMatricaria pubescenshave animportant activity to scavenge the hydroxyl radical; observed with the methanol acidified extract witha percentage of 79.92 % . By increasing the concentration of the extracts, the percentage inhibitionincreased and it is the same for the six tests for the evaluation of the antioxidant activity of theextracts.
