Cigarette smoking is the leading preventable cause of disease and death in the United States. With widespread use and exposure. Tobacco is clearly the human development toxicant and teratogen with adverse impact on development in our population. (Abdulrhman M Hawsawi et al., 2014).Exposures to tobacco, both voluntary and involuntary, occur at all ages and come from multiple sources, resulting in deposition and disposition of thousands of chemicals in the body, and causing detrimental effects on virtually every stage and facet of development and survival of the neonate. (Jesse P. Joad et al., 2009). Tobacco smoke contains more than 7,000 chemicals, including hundreds that are toxic and about 70 that can cause cancer. (Michael K Wong et al., 2015). The Objective of the study to assess and identify pregnant women knowledge, attitude and practice regarding SHS in Banat Health Center – Wad Madani, AL Gezira state in Sudan to come up recommendation on how to prevent or decrease the effect of SHS on pregnant women and outcome of her pregnancy and to addressing the effect of SHS on pregnancy outcome. The study utilized a facility –based Observational cross-sectional Study of their facials l study analytic cross-sectional study. Result show that age of exposure to SHS, group 1 age 18- 25 years with percentage (50%) more exposed to smoke than group 2 (26-35) by 38% and group 3(more than 36y) by12%.patient with low education level more effected by exposure to smoke in (32. %)in compared to high education level (10.5%). In case of patients with knowledge, the main knowledge is effect of passive smoking to pregnancy outcome is birth defect with percentage (13%) then premature birth (4 %)and last low birth wt. (3%).Attitude that the pregnancy period may help quitting, or decrease the smoking and then decrease exposure to SHS (6%) of pregnant woman have idea and (94%) have no attitude any Idea. Also pregnant mother has knowledge about the effect of passive smoking on public health, it is commonly being Inflammation allergies asthma with percentage (19.9%).Regarding to practices of pregnant lady when she exposed to SHS leave the place in (69.6%) and less ventilate the place (2.3%). For this all we recommend: Develop customized programs for specific at-risk populations of women who are exposed to smoke at reproductive age. Provide training and technical assistance to healthcare and public health providers on helping women & husband quit using tobacco before, during, and after pregnancy. Extend pregnancy-specific and postpartum- specific Quit line services to women during and after pregnancy. Promote awareness of cessation benefits and effectiveness of treatment by implementing coordinated media campaigns that specifically target women during childbearing years and their familyا
