الملخص

The educational Supervision in schools plays a major role in enhancing the efficiency of EFL teachers and improving their professional performance within the classroom .This study examines the role of educational supervision in enhancing the efficiency of teachers and their performance in the basic level schools in EL Kamleen locality, Gezira state. The aim of the study is to know the role of educational supervision and English language supervisors in enhancing the competencies and performance of teachers in their schools in AlKamleen in the Gezira state. The study also aims to find out whether there is any congruence between teachers' perceptions of the role of supervisors and their actual practice when visiting schools. The study also aims to identify the type of the relationship between English language teachers and supervisors. The study relied on the descriptive analytical method. The data were collected by means of a questionnaire which distributed to (200) English language teachers and (50) English language supervisors throughout the state. The study used the static package for social science (SPSS) program to process data. The study had found that educational supervision had played an important role in enhancing the efficiency and performance of teachers, planning and application of lessons. The English language supervisors in general have a role in enhancing the language competence of teachers and their performance. There is a good relationship between supervisors and teachers of English language. The study also found that the role of educational supervision in some supervisory processes is weak. These are classroom observation, personal competencies, and some other secondary competencies like classroom management. The study recommended that the selection of educational supervisors should be according to personal characteristics and scientific standards. Tools should be available for educational supervision to help the supervisors to do their full role. Develop the supervisors educationally, culturally, socially, economically and professionally, workshops and seminars for supervisors and teachers of English language. English language supervisors should undertake more than one supervisory visit to teachers during the school year. Training must be mandatory for teachers and new supervisors ,internal supervision and educational accountability should apply in schools.
