Introduction:Die-spacing is a technique commonly used to provide space for cement.The provision of a cement space between the internal surface of the crown and the prepared tooth surface may affect the important clinical factors of crown seating and retention.Purpose: A comparative study for the effect of the Adapta foils and the traditional waxing method on the retention and marginal fit of the metal framework.Materials and methods:60 mandibular premolars were prepared and divided into 2 group. The impression was made with silicon and working models were produced. A total of 60 wax pattern fabricated with two different technique: Adapta foils method and die spacer method. The metal frameworks were fabricated and cemented on their prepared teeth using glass ionomer cement. Finally the marginal gap was measured by a stereo microscope,and thenall experimental teeth were subjected to a universal testing machine to evaluate the retention value.Results:The adapta foils group showed more marginal fit (40.19μ) than die spacer group (99.35μ),and The removal force increased from 290.8 N (Die spacer) to 364.5 N (Adapta).Conclusions:Using of adapta foils will enhance the marginal fit and increase the retention value of metal frame work.
