Evaluation of Serum Magnesium Level among Sudanese Patients with Chronic Renal Failure

Background: The chronic kidney disease (CKD) is consider for the majorityof global morbidity and mortality, rather than infectious disease. More than 2million people die prematurely every year because treatment for kidneyfailure is unavailable, the hypermagnesiumia is developed in CKD when theGFR less than the normal range.Objective: the aim of this study was to assess the serum magnesium levelamong Sudanese patients with chronic renal failure.Materials and methods: the study was case control hospital based studyconducted in Noor Elhuda center_ Khartoum state. 100 subjects wereenrolled. Fifty (50) individuals will be selected from police hospital aspatients with chronic renal failure. And fifly (50) healthy individual as controlgroup. Level of magnesium was measured by using mindray analyzer.Results: The results were showed a significant increase in serum magnesiumlevel in patients with chronic renal failure, when compare with control group(2.22i0.9l) (l.78i0.29)p value (0.002) respectively.Conclusion: The study was observed that, significant increase of serummagnesium level in chronic renal failure patients. There was show positivecorrelation between magnesium and creatinine levels.
