- Metarhizium anisopliae var. acridum (Green Muscle®) is one of the world's most well known and used bio insecticides. However, wide spread application may promote mycosis in mammals. This toxicological study investigates the likely adverse effects of entomopathogenic fungus in an animal model. Female Wistar rats were inoculated, by oral route with biopesticide at three doses, 200, 20 and 10 mg /Kg/ day. After 15 days of oral treatments, the spleen and small intestine are collected for histological examination. .Different treatments have no significant effect on the relative weight growth of rats. compared to the control , optical microscope observations of histological cuts of treated rats showed multiple lesions such as vasodilatation and leukocyte infiltration . tissue damages are greater with the high dose (about 1010 spores/kg/day) the splenic parenchyma reveals fibrosis, lymphocyte depletion , fusion and degeneration of some splenic nodules. Ileal cuts show the alteration of the villi and the extension in the width of the lymphoid tissue associated with the intestinal mucosa.Ourresultssuggesttheimmunogenicandinflammatoryeffectofthis fungal strain administered at high doses for two weeks
