الملخص

This study aims to investigate the role of motivation in improving the secondary school students' reading skills. The researcher chooses Al-Butana Province as a case study. Throughout this study, the researcher affirms the importance of motivating the students, which leads to improve the students' reading skills. The researcher assumes the following:a) There is a close relationship between motivation and the achievement of the students in reading comprehension.b) There are various ways of motivating students in reading comprehension.c) Teaching reading effectively through motivation improves the performance of the students in reading comprehension.d) The attitudes of English language teachers and students are expected to be positive towards motivation. This study is divided into five chapters. Chapter one is an introduction that shows the background of the subject. In chapter two, the researcher introduces the previous studies that related to the subject. Chapter three explains the method that the researcher adopts in collecting data, and test the validity and reliability of the questionnaire. The collected data is analyzed in chapter four, and the results of the samples show that:c1- The students face difficulties in reading classes. 2- Motivation helps students develop reading skills.3- One of the drawbacks of the students reading skills, is due to the lack of motivation.4- The performance of the motivated students is better than the performance of the demotivated ones.5- Interesting reading materials increase students' motivation in reading.6- Interesting reading materials in the secondary schools' textbooks are not enough.7- Interesting reading materials improve students' participation and the performance.8- Competition between the students motivate the students to read. Chapter five introduces the summary of the study, results, recommendations and suggestions for further study.

ترجمة الملخص

تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تحري الدور الذي تلعبه الدافعية في الارتقاء بمهارة القراءة لدى طلاب المرحلة الثانوية. وقد اختار الباحث محافظة البطانة لإجراء هذا البحث. ومن خلال هذه الدراسة أكد الباحث على ضرورة دفع الطلاب وتزويدهم, مما يؤدي إلى تطوير مهارة القراءة لديهم. يفترض الباحث الاتي:1- هناك علاقة قوية بين الدافع للقراءة وانجاز الطلاب . 2- هناك عدة طرق لدفع الطلاب.3- تدريس القراءة بصورة فعالة من خلال الدافعية يؤدي إلى تطوير أداء الطلاب في القراءة.4- موقف معلمي اللغة الإنجليزية والطلاب تجاه الدافعية سوف يكون إيجابيا. قسمت هذه الدراسة إلى خمسة فصول :الفصل الأول عبارة عن مقدمة توضح خلفية الموضوع. تناول الباحث في الفصل الثاني الدراسات ذات الصلة بهذا الموضوع. الفصل الثالث يوضح الطريقة التي أتبعها الباحث في جمع المعلومات ألا وهي الإستبانة مع توضيح كيفية ثبات الاستبيان ومصداقيته.يقوم الفصل الرابع بتحليل البيانات بعد جمعها. وقد عكست نتائج العينات الأتي:1-أن الطلاب يواجهون صعوبات في حصص القراءة.2-الدافعية تساعد في الارتقاء بمستوى الطلاب في مهارة القراءة.3-أن أحد أسباب تقهقر الطلاب في مهارة القراءة يعود إلي قلة التحفيز.4-أداء الطلاب الذين تم دفعهم أفضل من أداء الذين لم يدفعوا.5-مواضيع القراءة الشيقة تزيد الدافعية لدى الطلاب على القراءة.6-مواضيع القراءة الشيقة في منهج المرحلة الثانوية ليست كافية.7-مواضيع القراءة الشيقة تطور أداء ومشاركة الطلاب.8-التنافس بين الطلاب تزيد من تحفيز الطلاب على القراءة.يتناول الفصل الخامس النتائج, التوصيات, الاقتراحات والخاتمة.
