This study delves into a pivotal philosophical issue spanning ancient, modern, and contemporary thought, with a specific focus on the Habermasian public sphere within political theory. Employing a comparative and analytical approach, it scrutinizes the origins and manifestations of the public sphere in ancient Greece. Subsequently, the study traces its trajectory within Western civilization during the modern era, identified as the bourgeois public sphere, primarily encapsulating the bourgeois class. A nuanced exploration ensues, examining its attenuation following Jürgen Habermas's realization that the democratic issue cannot be confined solely to the potent realm of bourgeois authority. Instead, it necessitates extension to encompass simple classes comprising civil society networks, the working class, and other and analogous segments. This analysis interfaces closely with the communicative theory grounded in deliberative democracy, predicated on the philosophy of communication and the ethics of dialogue, as elucidated within Habermas's overarching philosophical framework. The study further addresses the previously peripheral subject of religion within Habermas's philosophical repertoire. In this endeavor, he seeks to integrate religious elements and secularism within a comprehensive paradigm.
