The study reviews the role of the Palestinian sports institution in confronting the occupation's policies and building the national project. The study uses the descriptive approach which fits with the project's phenomenon thatextends from 2008 to 2016.This study consists of five chapters: The first one includes a general background, the objectives and the methodology of the study's problem. The second chapter Theoretical framework and previous studies. The third one covers a historical background about the return of sports activities in the Palestinian territories. The fourth chapter deals with the Israeli violations that committed against the Palestinian sport and athletes and how to confront this policy. The fifth and the last ones handle the role of the Palestinian sports foundation in building the national project.The study found the following results: The framework of asserting the concept of identity and building for the Palestinian state involves the insistence of the political and sports leadership in support of sports activity, its consolidation in the Palestinian territories, and the use of various means to prevent Israeli violations of sports. It uses every possible mean to preserve the legitimate rights of Palestinian sport such as the boycotting of anyone who tries to obstruct the process of the sports activity. Moreover, the Palestinian sport is linked with the ability of the Palestinian people to build their state by organizing various sports events and tournaments. The Palestinian people have joined the regional and international sports arena. The Palestinian sports movement has also used all the available tools to confront the occupation policies; as getting through the International Community by exposing the Israeli violations among the international communityin order to seek options to impose sanctions on the state of occupation, developing the sports infrastructure and reform all that the occupation has destroy. It is also possible to say that the Palestinian Sports Foundation has worked to strengthen the national project through the presence of international delegations to major sport clubs and institutions in Palestine, informing the international continental Arab federations of the illegal Israeli procedures in the occupied territories, holding international conferences and symposia, constant obtaining of committees and different federations memberships, imposing the establishment of sports facilities in various Palestinian areas and finally internationalizing the issue of legitimizing the existence of settlement clubs built on the Palestinian territories.The researcher advocates the position that the development of Palestinian sport in the West Bank is more concentrated than in the Gaza Strip due to the Palestinian political reality, the continuous Israeli attacks on sports establishments and athletes there. The researcher believes that the development of Palestinian sports during the period of the study is closely related to the political reality in the West Bank and the ability of the Palestinian sports leadership to recruit the Internationalinstitutions to prevent or lessen Israeli attacks against the Palestinian sport.The study comes out with many conclusions as follows: The need to work on increasing the participation of Palestinian sports in various federations Arab, regional and international championships to increase the international support for sport, in particular, and the Palestinian issue, in general. Further, It is necessary to increase the detailed researches on the ability of sport to contribute to the Palestinian state building. In addition to what mentioned above, it is necessary to increase the influential role of the Palestinian sports media to the world by linking it to the international sports media, bringing its employees to the Association of International Sports Journalists and participating in the symposiums and conferences which held around the world.
