The Effect of Using Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) on Students Speaking Performance at the university level: A Case Study of Sinnar University Faculty of Education Department of English

الملخص

The present study aims to explore the effects of using information communication technologies ICTs on improving EFL speaking performance. The study focuses on integrating different types of these materials to enhance speaking skill. Also the study concerns with importance of technological materials to create an enjoyable and relaxed atmosphere, and to make students use the target language effectively. The hypotheses confirm that ICTs are great motivator, and these instruments help the EFL students to speak fluently and accurately, as well as to create a good environment that provides with extensive language use and oral performance. The subject is EFL teachers and students at the universities namely university of Sinnar. It consists the students in third and fourth level at the University of Sinnar faculty of education department of English language in the year (2016-2017), they are (40) students and (4) teachers. The study follows the descriptive analytical method. The data is collected via a questionnaire and interview. The data is gathered through two tools students, questionnaire administered to third and fourth year, and the teachers' interview is directed to the teacher at the department of English, Sinnar University. The collected data is analyzed by (SPSS) programme. The results show that the integrating ICTs are the best techniques to enhance students, speaking performance. The study recommends that, EFL teachers at the university need more training and practice on ICTs devices, so as to be familiar to deal with it. In addition, the ministry of higher education should be aware of the importance of ICTs in teaching and learning process.

تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى كشف تأثير أدوات التكنولوجيا الحديثة في تطوير تعلم اللغة المنطوقة وتحسينها مستخدمة وسائل الاتصال الحديثة . ركّزت الدراسة أيضاَ على وسائل الاتصال المختلفة لتحسين مهارات المخاطبة . كما تتعلق الدراسة بأهمية وسائل الاتصال كالحاسوب والموبايلات الذكية وشاشة العرض لخلق بيئة ممتعة ومريحة لطلاب اللغة الإنجليزية لغة أجنبية وهي أيضاَ محاولة تشجيعية لطلاب اللغة الإنجليزية لاستعمال اللغة بصورة فعالة . أثبتت فرضيات الدراسة أنّ التكنولوجيا ووسائل الاتصال الحديثة من أهم المحفزات وهذه الوسائل تساعد طلاب اللغة الإنجليزية على التحدث بطلاقة ودقة و تخلق بيئة دراسية ملائمة وتعطي الطلاب مجالا واسعا لاستخدام اللغة وخاصة الأداء الشفهي والعينّة هم (40) طالبا و (4) من أساتذة جامعة سنار – كلية التربية قسم اللغة الإنجليزية. وجمعت المادة عن طريق الاستبانة والمقابلة ,وصممت الاستبانة لطلاب السنة الثالثة والرابعة بجامعة سنار قسم اللغة الإنجليزية. واتبعت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي التحليلي كما حللت باستخدام برامج (SPSS) . وقد أثبتت نتائج الدراسة أنّ استعمال وسائل الاتصال الحديثة في تدريس اللغة الإنجليزية باعتبارها لغة أجنبية من أجود التقنيات لرفع مستوى مهارات التحدث لدي الطلاب , وبالتالي أنّ طلاب اللغة الإنجليزية كلغة أجنبية يحتاجون إلى تشجيع و تحفيز بأدوات وتقنيات فعّالة لرفع مستوى المهارات الشفهيّة , وخلق جو ملائم عند استخدام اللغة. أنّ طلاب اللغة الإنجليزية باعتبارها لغة أجنبية يحتاجون إلى تطبيق وسائل الاتصال الحديثة داخل حجرات الدراسة للتشجيع والتحفيز. وأوصت الدراسة ان يكون هناك مزيد من التدريب والتأهيل لأساتذة الجامعات لمعرفة وسائل الاتصال الحديثة والتعامل معه. كما اوصت الدراسة أيضا على تنبيه وزارة التعليم العالي إلى أهمية وسائل الاتصال الحديثة في العملية التعليمية.
